Our automotive business is known for the Subaru brand.
Ever since the launch of the Subaru 360 in 1958 we have continually pursued to offer vehicles with outstanding safety and driving performance in a variety of driving conditions as well as intelligent packaging. This concept is shared by every vehicle Subaru makes, and it was with this mindset that Subaru developed its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Our Symmetrical AWD features a symmetrically-laid-out drivetrain with Subaru’s compact, low-center-of-gravity horizontally-opposed “Boxer” engine positioned in line with it.
Through these technologies, we achieve the Subaru ideal of drivability that stays true to driver intentions, enabling reliable performance in any weather and all road conditions.
In readiness for emergencies, we supplement such active safety features by simultaneously enhancing pre-crash and collision safety performance.
In 2010 Subaru equipped the Legacy and Outback with EyeSight (ver.2), a driver assist system that prevents collisions and minimizes damage in the event of an accident. In 2014 we introduced EyeSight (ver.3) on the Levorg, enhancing every function of the system and adding a new steering assist control. Through such innovations, we strive to create vehicles that anyone can drive with peace of mind.
At the same time, we put ceaseless efforts in developing environmental technologies, including the Subaru XV Hybrid released in 2013 as well as the 1.6-liter intelligent DIT engine which achieves both drivability and environmental performance by combining small engine capacity with a direct injection turbo.
By providing enjoyment backed by peace of mind, we believe that a car transforms the life of its owner into a richer, more active experience. Subaru will continue to enhance its engineering excellence to offer such cars.
