SUBARU will collect information concerning the customer by using cookies and similar technologies (“cookies”) and handle such information on the Site, as follows.

1. Cookies

A “cookie” is a small text file that is sent from the web server to the web browser of the customer’s computer or mobile device (collectively, the “Device”) when the customer accesses the website and is saved on the Device’s hard disk drive. Cookies are generally separated into two broad categories: “1st Party Cookies” and “3rd Party Cookies.” The Site’s “1st Party Cookies” are set by SUBARU. In most instances, these Cookies are set for the use of the functions provided on the Site. On the other hand, the Site’s “3rd Party Cookies” are not set by SUBARU, but by third parties with whom SUBARU collaborates. For example, there may be instances where a part of a cookie will be used together with a third party with whom SUBARU collaborates to improve the website or to optimize ads.

An “Ad-ID” is an identifier for ad delivery used in smartphone and other devices. For example, Ad-IDs used on Android devices are called “ADID” and Ad-IDs used on iOS devices are called “IDFA.”
An Ad-ID is acquired by installing an application on the customer’s device. Ads can be delivered based on the Ad-ID that has the information of the application used by an individual.

2. Purpose of Use of Information Collected by Cookies

  1. In general, the above-mentioned cookies automatically identify the customer’s Device when the customer accesses the internet or when using a specific web service, and are a technology established so that the customer can use the service by continuing from where the customer last left off without having to repeatedly enter the same information. By the customer saving detailed settings, such as web browsing history, on the cookie on the customer’s Device, the convenience of the functional actions of the browser and of accessing websites will be increased.
  2. SUBARU uses the information collected by the use of cookies on the Site to analyze the customer’s usage status of the website (access status, traffic, routing, etc.) and for improving the Site’s performance and advancing and improving the services that SUBARU provides to the customer on the Site. The principal services that SUBARU uses on the Site are as provided in paragraphs 5(1) and 5(2). The cookies sent by SUBARU on the Site and the cookies sent by each service provider are saved on the respective servers of the companies and will be handled pursuant to their respective privacy policies. Please review paragraphs 5(1) and 5(2) on how to block cookies to stop each service.
  3. There may be instances where SUBARU will conduct behavioral targeting ads on the Site and on the sites of the ad delivery service providers with whom SUBARU collaborates. The principal ad delivery services used by SUBARU on the Site are as provided in paragraph 5(1). The cookies sent by SUBARU on the Site and the cookies sent by each ad delivery service provider are saved on the respective servers of the companies and will be handled pursuant to their respective privacy policies. Please review paragraph 5(2) on how to block cookies to stop the delivery of behavioral targeting ads.

3. Provision of Information Collected by Cookies

SUBARU may classify customers according to specific conditions such as interests, concerns, age groups and other conditions inferred from the information collected by the cookies and provide information concerning this classification (segments) to ad delivery businesses, media agencies, ad companies and other related businesses.

4. Acquisition from Third Parties of Information Collected by Cookies

SUBARU will acquire information collected by the cookies from third parties and use them in combination with information handled by SUBARU.
Although there is no information that can identify a particular individual included in the information acquired from third parties, such information may be used in combination with the customer’s personal information handled by SUBARU.

5. Services Used by SUBARU and How to Block Cookies

The services used by SUBARU and how to block cookies are provided as follows. However, please be advised that if all of these cookies are removed, there may be restrictions on the use of the Site and the use of products and services provided by each company.

(1) Usage Status Analysis Service

SUBARU uses the following services on the Site for data collection. The information collected by the cookies with each service will be used as behavioral data within the Site for the purposes of use in 2. above, such as for improvements within the Site, without acquiring or uploading the personal information of the Site visitors.

SUBARU has entrusted the delivery of some of the ads displayed on the Site to the following ad delivery companies. When visiting a page where the ad delivered by the ad delivery company is displayed, the ad delivery company will also collect data by the cookies for behavioral targeting ads and use them for purposes of displaying ads relating to the customer's interests and concerns.

SUBARU uses Treasure Data eCDP on the Site for the collection of cookies by SUBARU. The information collected by the cookies will not be externally uploaded and will be used as behavioral data within the Site for purposes, such as improvements within the Site, and for service improvements. In addition, the cookies may be used in combination with information handled by SUBARU. Although there is no information that can identify a particular individual included in the information acquired from cookies, such information may be used in combination with the customer’s personal information handled by SUBARU.
